The mission of IHM’s Cross Country program is to introduce the participants to the sport of Cross Country in a safe and fun environment. The program strives to educate young participants on the importance of physical fitness that can last a lifetime.
Boy's & Girl's Cross Country is open to IHM Parishioners and Day School Students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. As the sport is gaining popularity at the High School level, this program offers a good introduction into the sport.
The Cross Country season will run from early August into the middle of October. Races will be 2 miles in length with the course usually in a park or field with some challenging hills. Competition will include teams from schools throughout the city. Training will begin in early August with 2-3 days a week of conditioning. Once the competition season starts (end of August) the practices will go down to 1-2 days per week depending on the timing of the meets.
