Program Overview

IHM is a member of the Greater Cincinnati Catholic Youth Sports (GCCYS) league. The GCCYS was founded in 2015 to serve as a youth athletics ministry for the Catholic youth of Greater Cincinnati. Recreational and competitive leagues are offered for both boys and girls basketball and volleyball.

Girls' volleyball is open to students in Grades 3 thru 8 and is structured as follows:

Grade 3 thru Grade 5

All teams at this level are recreational. All players have approximately equal playtime. Team selection/evaluations will take place in July in order to divide each team per grade equally (equal skill levels on each team.) The assessment date will be announced after registration closes. It is important that as many girls as possible attend the assessment so that our teams are divided as evenly as possible.

Grade 6 thru Grade 8

These grades will have competitive and recreational teams. The teams will be chosen in A, B, C format for each grade. Tryouts are done at IHM by an outside evaluator. Players may choose to be placed on a recreational team during the registration process. Those players will not have to attend tryouts. Please make sure you communicate if your player will not be attending tryouts. The need of our evaluators is based on the number of girls who attend tryouts.

Coaches

Each team will need a head and assistant coach. Either may be a parent or a non-parent but must be SAFE Parish Compliant. If you or someone you know has volleyball knowledge or experience, please consider volunteering your time to coach a team. Please contact the coordinators for details if you are interested.
